Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes | Marilyn Monroe | So Monroe | So Into You Shoes

In the final wedding scene of the 1953 hit movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Marilyn Monroe made her bridal procession up the aisle in a beautiful lace wedding gown sat just above her ankle, showing off some feminine strappy heels. The overall look was romantic, graceful and delicate.

Steal Marolyn's shoe style with Bella Belle Shoes's Maya heel. Maya features a romantic floral lace motif and playful interlocking straps at the ankle for an elegant, feminine look. If you look closely, you’ll spy a pearl at the centre of each lace flower for an extra luxe touch!

A film in love with fashion, Funny Face (1957)

Funny Face | Audrey Hepburn | So Into You Shoes

Funny Face’s crowning glory is a collection of custom dresses by Hubert de Givenchy. The Givenchy wedding gown worn by Audrey Hepburn in the film is romantic, but also modern: a full skirt, with a slim-fitting drop-waisted bodice, and a high neckline. Tea dresses are often styled with t-bar heels or leather sliders, but in Funny Face, the dress was paired with a comfortable pair of white ballet flats. Ballet flats are a classic shoe that will go with almost every dress!

Father of the Bride (1991)

Inspired by her Father of the Bride character Annie Banks, Kimberly Williams walked the aisle in heels, but then for the rest of it, she wore a comfortable pair of white sneakers. Kimberly's wedding was in 2003. Since then, bridal sneakers have become an acceptable choice for modern brides. Since Annie Banks' sequined sneakers were created by her dad, George Banks, we love the bridal sneakers that have been designed with a bit of glitz, or as a custom keepsake from the day.

Ella Enchanted (2004)

Ella Enchanted | Wedding Boots | So Into You Shoes

In the wedding scene of the 2004 family movie Ella Enchanted, Anne Hathway converts her character's wedding dress into a short number and reveals an iconic pair of 12" tall silver boots featuring lace backs and zippers all while lip-syncing and dancing to Don't Go Breaking My Heart. If there's one wedding shoe trend that's been slowly trickling into our real weddings, it's the bridal boot, and we're sure it's all thanks to Ella!

We've rounded up some of our favourite mostly white wedding boots you can shop right now.

From left to right: Julia Mays Alessia silver mid-calf boots, Freya Rose Roxy Blanco white leather ankle boots with mother of pearl heel, followed by Tony Bianco's Freddie Bootie.

Sex and the City (2008)

In the first Sex and the City film, Carrie Bradshaw freaks out after Mr Big ditches their wedding. There was a lot to take in with Carrie's wedding look: her bespoke Vivienne Westwood gown, her vampy makeup, and the peacock hair accessory. Which is why we understand if you don't remember her fashioning a gold pair of high gladiator sandals.

When searching for a dupe at the time of writing this, it turns out gladiator sandals aren't easy to come by. Our favourite pair are the Jessica Simpson Jourie Glitter Peep Toe Slingback Stiletto Shooties, followed closely by Casadei's woven leather 105mm sandals and Gianni Bini Kelleen's Shielded Metallic Jeweled Dress Sandals.

The one shoe of Carrie's that has stood the test of time is the pair that she wore with her simple white suit at the end of the film at her and Mr Big's courthouse wedding: her Manolo Blahnik blue satin jewel buckle pumps.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2012)

Kristen Stewart wore Manolo Blahnik's Swan Pumps when she walked the aisle as Bella Swan in Breaking Dawn: Part 1. The Manolo Blahnik wedding shoes hit stores after the film premiered, making this embellished satin pump the must-have bridal shoe for Bella enthusiasts everywhere.

Manolo Blahnik's Swan Pumps are currently sold out. We have a feeling they may have been discontinued but we can't say for sure.
